Futures Finalist Laura Davis of SwimMAC Carolina Announces 2021 Verbal to Richmond

NEW COMMIT: The University of Richmond has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Charlotte, N.C. native Laura Davis.

She will join Carstyn Klosterman as a member of the Spiders’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Richmond! Huge thanks to my teammates, coaches, and family for supporting me the whole way! Go Spiders?❤️”

Davis, who owns the Junior National cut in the 400m IM, does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and most recently placed fifth in the mile and seventh in the 400 IM at the Southern Premier Invitational. She earned three best time at Juniors East in December and raced to seventh in the 400m IM at Greensboro Futures last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:05.00
  • 400 IM – 4:25.78
  • 100 breast – 1:05.76
  • 200 breast – 2:19.62
  • 500 free – 5:00.02

Also competing for Providence Senior High School, Davis is a four-time North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished seventh in the 200 IM and eighth in the 500 free as a junior while taking 10th and eighth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
