NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has landed their fourth early verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Tate Cutler of Davis, Calif.

He will join Luke Thomas, Drew Jordan and Collin Klingman as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 48.96
  • 200 fly – 1:46.84
  • 100 back – 50.25
  • 200 back – 1:48.64
  • 200 IM – 1:51.44

Primarily a butterfly and backstroker, Cutler trains year-round with DART Swimming and owns five Junior National standards with the U.S. Open cut in the 200m fly. He most recently placed seventh in the 200m fly and 12th in the 200m IM at College Station Sectionals in March en route to achieving six new personal bests.

At Juniors West in December, he recorded five best times and finished 12th in the 200 fly.

Last summer, Cutler won the 200m fly at Mount Hood Futures where he also placed seventh in the 200m IM and 11th in the 100m fly.

Cutler has made some very impressive time drops over the past two years, taking off five seconds in the 100 back/100 fly, seven seconds in the 200 IM, and nine seconds in the 200 back/200 fly. With just under two years to go before arriving at Auburn, he will surely look to continue on that rate of improvement and his versatility will be a valuable asset to their program.
