From Bronco to Mustang: Katie Faris Switches Commitment to Cal Poly for Fall 2020

NEW COMMIT: After the elimination of Boise State’s swimming and diving program, San Clemente, Calif. native Katie Faris has changed her commitment from the Broncos to Cal Poly.

She will suit up for the Mustangs in the fall of 2020.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.04
  • 100 free – 52.44
  • 200 free – 1:56.03

A talented sprint freestyler, Faris does her club swimming with San Clemente Aquatic Team and is a Futures qualifier. She finaled in the 100 free at Carlsbad Sectionals in March and placed 14th in that event at East LA Sectionals in December. Last summer, she earned two best times at Santa Clarita Sectionals before going on to earn bronze in both the 50m free and 100m free at the MVN Junior Olympics.

A recent graduate of San Clemente High School, Faris competed at the CIF Southern Division I Section Championships in 2017, 2018, and 2019. As a junior, she finished 14th in the 50 free and 17th in the 100 free.
