Fresno’s Justin Wright Bears Down With Commitment to Arizona

FRESNO, California, November 3. FRESNO Dolphins’ Justin Wright made some noise this evening as the top-flight butterflier elected to commit to the University of Arizona. Wright will give Arizona an amazing talent in the butterfly events in the Class of 2014.

Wright, who is ranked 12th in the state of California by CollegeSwimming.com, is a butterfly specialist who definitely provides Arizona a morale boost as the program is still under lock-and-key with no one knowing why head coach Eric Hansen is currently on a leave of absence. Wright’s definitely making a leap of faith with the commitment.

Verbally committed to University of Arizona. Super stoked to be a wildcat! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far. #BearDown— Justin Wright (@THE_MrRight) November 3, 2013

The Junior Pan Pacific team member blasted a 1:57.90 in the 200-meter fly at the Arena Grand Prix stop in Santa Clara this past May for his top current time, demonstrating just how strong he can be in his pet event. He also owns a 55.87 in the 100-meter fly from the Speedo Junior Nationals this year.

Wright is also pretty special in short course yard events, having clocked a 48.83 in the 100-ayrd fly at the CIF-Central Section divisional championships in May, and also a 1:46.31 in the Juanita Allington Memorial Senior meet in February of this year, demonstrating that he can bring some mid-season speed as well.

Additionally, Wright holds a 1:38.95 in the 200-yard free, providing himself with a strong third event as well as the potential to add to Arizona’s 800 free relay.
