NEW COMMIT: Fresno State has gained a verbal commitment from in-state swimmer Tyler Bedley, the Lake Forest, Calif. native who will join the Bulldogs as part of the class of 2023.

Bedley does her club swimming with Saddleback El Toro (SET) Aquatics. She wrapped up a strong long course season with four new personal bests at the California Junior Olympics. At the Speedo Champion Series – Carlsbad in March, she was a two-time finalist and recorded lifetime bests in all events she competed in.

Also representing El Toro High School, Bedley finished 12th in the 100 breast (1:05.23) and 14th in the 50 free (24.53) at the 2018 CIF-Southern Section Division I Championships. She also helped El Toro to a 16th-place finish in the 4×100 free relay.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Fresno State!! As soon as I stepped on campus I knew it would be a great home for me to continue my swimming career and begin my path to becoming a nurse. Go Bulldogs!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.98
  • 200 breast – 2:21.67
  • 50 free – 24.36
  • 100 free – 54.80

Bedley will add more depth to Fresno State’s breaststroke group when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. She will have one season to train with top breaststroker Manuela Mendolicchio, who won the 200 breast and finished sixth in the 100 breast at the 2018 Mountain West Conference Championships. Bedley would have scored in the C-final of both breaststroke distances at last season’s conference meet.
