NEW COMMIT: Kali Franckowiak of Naperville, Ill. has verbally committed to the University of Wyoming as a member of the Cowgirls’ class of 2024.

Primarily a freestyler, Franckowiak swims year-round with Maverick Swim Club and recently raced seven events at NCSAs in March after taking eighth in the 200 free at Illinois SCY Seniors. Last summer, she placed fifth in the 200m free at Illinois LCM Seniors before going on to record a pair of best times at Iowa City Speedo Sectionals.

Also competing for Plainfield High School, Franckowiak is a two-time Illinois State Championship finalist. She finished seventh in the 200 free as a junior after racing to 10th in that event during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m beyond excited to announce that I have verbally committed to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Wyoming!! I am so thrilled to be a part of such an amazing team with great coaches!! I’d like to thank God, my friends, my family, coaches and teammates who made this dream a reality!! Can’t wait to be a cowgirl!! #gocowboys #gopokes #onewyo #gowyo”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.03
  • 100 free – 52.16
  • 200 free – 1:50.80
  • 500 free – 4:57.49
  • 200 IM – 2:07.52

Franckowiak will add valuable freestyle depth to the Cowgirls’ lineup when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2019-20 season and could find herself on Wyoming’s 4×200 free relay even as a freshman. She would’ve scored in the C-final of both the 200 free and 500 free at the 2019 Mountain West Conference Championships.
