NEW COMMIT: Purdue University has received a new commitment for the 2019-20 season from Lombard, Ill. freestyler Elissa Haake.

Haake does her club swimming with Hinsdale Swim Club under head coach Scott Erdman and recently won four events at the Annual Holiday Splash in December. She recorded a pair of lifetime bests at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Columbus this past summer and had three second swims at Illinois Seniors last March. Also competing for Addison Trail High School, Haake placed tenth in the 200 free at the Illinois State Championships during her senior year.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited and grateful to be a part of the Purdue Family!  I never could have imagined having this opportunity after finding this sport in middle school.  I’m so thankful for everyone who supported me and believed in me, I can’t wait to be a Boiler!!  BOILER UP, HAMMER DOWN!!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.08
  • 100 free – 51.72
  • 200 free – 1:51.28
  • 500 free – 5:03.73

When she arrives in West Lafayette as a member of the class of 2023, Haake will add her talents to a freestyle group that’ll include Maizie Seidl and Megan Johnson. Although she’s not quite in scoring range just yet at the Big Ten Championships, Haake has continuously made improvements each season.
