NEW COMMIT: The United States Military Academy at West Point has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Beau Joens of Golden, Colorado. Joens is a Junior National qualifier who excels in freestyle.
He will join Kohlston Katz in West Point as a member of the Black Knights’ Class of 2031.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim Division I at the United States Military Academy at West Point! A huge thank you to the Army coaching staff for this incredible opportunity. To my incredible parents, my big brother, my amazing coaches (Kyle, Tim C., Ethan, and Tim H.), and my teammates—thank you for pushing me and giving me pathways for success. I’m also grateful to my Lakewood High School teachers and admin for the endless support. Go Army! Beat Navy!”
Joens does his club swimming with North Jeffco Swim Team and competed at Juniors West back in December before going on to final in two events at Four Corners Speedo Sectionals last month. Last summer, he earned four best times at Greensboro Futures.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 21.91

Currently a junior at Lakewood High School, Joens placed 11th in the 500 free and 13th in the 200 free at the 2025 Colorado 5A State Championships.
The Black Knights are coming off a second-place finish at the 2026 Patriot League Championships where they produced seven All-Patriot League selections and the Men’s Swimmer of the Meet in Johnny Crush. Army set two program records and three meet records at the conference championship.
