Four-Time New York State Champion Megan Deuel Verbally Commits to Notre Dame for 2020

NEW COMMIT: Pittsford, New York native and high school junior Megan Deuel has announced her verbal commitment to Notre Dame as a member of the class of 2024.

Deuel swims year-round with Victor Swim Club and owns the U.S. Open standard in both fly events as well as four additional Winter Junior cuts. She placed fourth in the 200 fly and tenth in the 100 fly at Juniors East and concluded her summer season with a 17th-place showing in the former at Junior Nationals. She also registered six top-5 finishes at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals last March. Deuel is a six-time New York Federation Championships finalist while representing Pittsford High School and successfully defended her 100 back and 100 fly titles during her junior season. She has also earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

100 fly – 53.77
200 fly – 1:57.96
200 IM – 2:03.06
100 back – 54.83
200 back – 1:58.81

Deuel will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Fighting Irish at the start of the 2020-21 season. Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go, she would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 fly and the C-final of the 100 fly at the 2018 ACC Championships.
