Florida Gulf Coast Snags Verbal From Ohio State 100 Fly Champion Cameron Kuriger

NEW COMMIT: Florida Gulf Coast University has picked up their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Cameron Kuriger of Columbus, Ohio.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida Gulf Coast University! So grateful and thankful for all the support, love, and help I’ve received along the way! GO EAGLES!!!”

A talented butterflyer, Kuriger trains year-round with Buckeye Swim Club and most recently placed seventh in the 100m fly at Geneva Sectionals last month. Sh was the 200m fly runner-up at Indianapolis Sectionals back in March and took second in both the 100/200 fly at the 18&U Winter Championships – Oxford in December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.14
  • 200 fly -1:59.23
  • 200 IM – 2:05.22
  • 200 free – 1:52.27

Also competing for Olentangy High School, Kuriger is a three-time Ohio State Championship finalist. She won the 100 fly and placed seventh in the 200 free as a junior while taking second in the former event during her sophomore season.

Kuriger would’ve placed second in the 200 fly, fourth in the 100 fly, eighth in the 200 free, and 11th in the 200 IM at the 2021 CCSA Championships, making an immediate impact for the Eagles. Her best 200 fly time is also the 2022 NCAA B standard.
