Florida Gators Snag Another 2023 Verbal From Kentucky State Champ Lainy Kruger

NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has continued to form a loaded class for the fall of 2023, most recently receiving a verbal commitment from Olympic Trials qualifier Lainey Kruger of Taylor Mill, Kentucky.

She will join Bella Sims, Grace RaineyJoJo Ramey and Michaela Mattes in Gainesville as a member of the Gators’ Class of 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim & study at the University of Florida!! A huge thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me along the way! I can’t wait to be a part of Gator Nation!!”

Kruger, who does her club swimming with Northern Kentucky Clippers, raced the 100m free at Wave I of Olympic Trials this past summer before going on to final in six events at the Speedo Summer East Championships. Back in March, she earned silver in the 200m IM as well as bronze in the 100m/200m free and 100m breast at the ISCA International Senior Cup.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:47.45
  • 100 free – 49.67
  • 100 breast – 1:01.85
  • 200 breast – 2:13.91
  • 200 IM – 2:00.50
  • 100 fly – 55.80
  • 200 fly – 2:00.11

Currently a junior at Notre Dame Academy, Kruger is already a four-time individual Kentucky State Championship finalist. She won the 100 breast and was the runner-up in the 100 free as a sophomore while taking second in the 100 breast and third in the 200 IM during her freshman season.
