Florent Manaudou Edges To 50 Free Win In Nice; Backstroke Clean Sweep For Yohann Ndoye Brouard
Tokyo silver medallist Florent Manaudou won the 50m freestyle at the FFN Golden Tour in Nice, a sliver and 0.03 ahead of Maxime Grousset.
Manaudou, who has claimed gold and two silvers at the last three Olympic Games, competed in just the one event in Nice and his meet ended after 22.42secs in the water.
Grousset took second in 22.45 – a day after continuing his domination of the 100 free – with Thomas Piron next home (22.93).
Grousset returned to take bronze in the 200 free, his time of 1:50.03 falling 1.25secs shy of winner Hadrian Salvan who stopped the clock at 1:48.78 with Enzo Tesic next home in 1:49.11.
Ndoye Brouard Completes Backstroke Clean Sweep
Yohann Ndoye Brouard is one of the fine young French prospects who have a home Games in their sights in the form of Paris 2024.
Tokyo was a painful experience for the 21-year-old who was disqualified from the 100 back semis after crashing into the wall and coming to a stop.

Trying to restart he pushed off on his stomach and was DQd: he revealed days later he had been unable to see the flags because of a condition called keratonconus in both eyes.
He had been unable to have surgery because of the timing of the European Championships, his school exams and the Olympics.
He is a fine young talent as his 100 back bronze medal at the Europeans attests where there was also the disappointment of missing the podium over 200m by one place and 0.04.
He lined up for the 200 in Nice having already won the 50 and 100 back and pulled away from Antoine Herlem on the last 50 to win in 1:58.83.
Herlem was second in 1:59.37 with Roman Mityukov, who pipped Ndoye Brouard to that bronze in Budapest, third in 1:59.73.
Syoud Flies To Another Podium
Jaouad Syoud of Algeria added the 100 fly to his medley double in 52.75, Charles Rihoux one place behind him in 53.54.
Lisa Mamie – winner of the 200br – was 0.07 ahead of Nika Godun at the halfway point of the 100m but the Russian overhauled the Swiss to win in 1:08.51 to 1:08.55.
Barbora Janickova won the 100 free in 56.19 with Marina Jehl and Giulia Rosi-Bene, one of the youngsters with a 2006 birthdate, sharing second in 56.85.
Antoine Viquerat won the men’s equivalent in 1:05.51.
Other winners included Mary-Amber Moluh in the 50 back (27.95), Camille Tisssandie (4:18.25) and Ivan Giovannoni who took the 800 free in 8:01.22.
