Five Virginia Swimmers Earn Scholastic All-America Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, October 11. FIVE University of Virginia first-year swimmers have been named to USA Swimming's 2004-2005 Scholastic All-America Team. Tony Colella, Bjorn Falk, Pat Reams and T.J. Southmayd have been named to the men's team, while Anne Dawson was named to the women's team.

Southmayd's score of 242.5 points is the third highest on the men's Scholastic All-America Team. Colella received 232 points, Falk had 211.25 points and Reams tallied 187 points. Dawson totaled 194 points.

A point system determines the amount of points awarded for high school GPA and for highest place achieved in championship swimming competition.

The University of Virginia men's and women's swimming and diving teams open their 2005-06 season on Friday, October 14 against SEC powerhouse Florida at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
