Five Star Kyle Whitaker Makes College Choice, Several Other Recruits Commit As Well

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 30. WITH national early signing day right around the corner, many recruits are making their final collegiate decisions. One of the top recruits in the nation, five star Kyle Whitaker is one of those to have committed recently.

Whitaker, who swims for Duneland and preps at Chesterton High, is headed to Michigan. Whitaker is a proven commodity with the ability to score immediate points at the NCAA Division I level. His top time in the 400-yard IM (3:44.79) would have moved him into the B final last year. Additionally, Whitaker would have qualified to compete in the 200-yard IM (1:45.25) last year, and has several B cut times in the 100-yard free (44.33), 200-yard free (1:36.15), 500-yard free (4:21.22), 100-yard fly (47.85) and 200-yard fly (1:44.46).

Whitaker also owns a boatload of long course senior national cuts (100-meter free (51.40), 200-meter free (1:49.87), 400-meter free (3:57.60), 100-meter back (57.76), 100-meter fly (53.31), 200-meter fly (1:56.95), 200-meter fly (1:56.95), 200-meter IM (2:00.07) and 400-meter IM (4:17.59).

"At Michigan, everything seemed to flow and connect right with me," Whitaker told Swimming World. "I really enjoyed the team, the coaching staff, and the atmosphere at Michigan, and I think it is the best fit for me, and am very excited and honored to be able to continue my academic and athletic career there."

He joins five stars Kyle Duckitt and John Wojciechowski as well as four star Courtney Beidler as future Wolverines.

Three star Jessie Krebs, who swims for North Baltimore and preps at Towson High, is headed to Richmond.

Cornell added its third two-star recruit in Riley Bouchard. Bouchard joins fellow two stars Lauren Marchese and Cody Vitez.

In other recruiting news, one star Courtney McDermott is headed to Division III Emory.
