First Public Verbal For Boys’ Class of 2025 Goes To Army From Lewis Esterly

NEW COMMIT: Army West Point has snagged the first public verbal commitment for Fall 2025 on the boys’ side, receiving a verbal pledge from Lewis Esterly of Scottsdale, Arizona.

His older sister, Erica Esterly, is currently a senior freestyler for the Black Knights. His father, Brian, is a US Marine Corps veteran and his mother, Rose, the president of the West Point Parent Parents Club of Arizona.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am grateful to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy. Thank you to all the coaches and mentors who have helped me achieve this goal. It is an honor to uphold my family’s tradition of military service and to follow in my sister Erica’s footsteps at West Point. I look forward to being a part of the Long Gray Line. GO ARMY BEAT NAVY.”

Esterly does his club swimming with Scottsdale Aquatic Club. He earned a best time at Arizona Seniors this past summer and finished 11th in the 100 fly at Phoenix Sectionals in March.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 49.42
  • 200 fly – 1:50.61

  • 500 free – 4:46.25

Currently a junior at Pinnacle High School, Esterly placed fourth in the 100 fly and sixth in the 50 free at the Arizona State Championships in 2022. He raced to 14th in the 200 free and 16th in the 100 fly as a freshman.

Esterly’s best time is already fast enough to score in the B-final at the Patriot League Championships in the 200 fly.
