Finland Long Course Nationals: Espoo Meet Concludes
ESPOO, Finland, July 3. THE Finland Long Course Nationals, hosted by Espoo, put the final touches on a four-day competition.
Emilia Pikkarainen won the women's 100 fly in 1:00.02, while Petra Soininen touched second in 1:01.31. Melina Heikkinen placed third in 1:02.88. Fanny Teijonsalo hit the wall in 5:04.17, touching out Hilla Kortetjarvi (5:04.19) in the women's 400 IM. Vilma Ruotsalainen rounded out the podium with a third-place 5:05.64.
Hanna-Maria Seppala cruised to victory in the women's 200 free with a 2:01.54. Noora Laukkanen placed second in 2:05.19, while Jenni Ruohoniemi earned third in 2:05.46. Jenna Laukkanen posted a 32.61 for the women's 50 breast title. Veera Kivirinta touched second in 32.97, while Marlene Niemi grabbed third in 33.12.
Henri Vartiainen clocked a 58.43 to win the men's 100 back. Janne Markkanen posted a second-place 58.81, while Valtteri Halonen earned third in 58.85. Aleksi Eskelinen topped the men's 1500 free in 16:14.63, while Anton Dobrzhanskiy finished second in 16:25.58. Eetu Piiroinen picked up third in 16:35.51.
Eetu Karvonen dominated the men's 200 breast with a 2:17.07. Ossi Oksa touched second in 2:21.42, while Sami Myren wound up third in 2:21.90. Ari-Pekka Liukkonen won the men's 50 free in 22.67, while Jani Rusi placed second in 22.89. Tatu Waltari finished third in 23.17.
