FINA Releases Latest Leaderboard Update
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, October 17. HEADING into the third stop of seven in Moscow this week, FINA has released its overall series leaderboard for the FINA World Cup circuit.
South Africa's Chad Le Clos, the only dominant swimmer during the course of both of the first two meets, stands atop the leaderboard with 41 points. Japan's Hidemasa Sano and Germany's Marco Koch are tied for second with 25 points each.
Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom and Ukraine's Daryna Zevina are tied atop the women's leaderboard with 25 points each, while Australia's Angie Bainbridge is third with 20 points.
These swimmers are vying for the $100,000; $50,000 and $30,000 prizes for first, second and third place in the overall circuit standings.
Additionally, swimmers make money for placing on the podium at each meet. FINA has already awarded more than $200,000 for the first two meets with Le Clos already cashing in $16,000 in earnings.
