FINA announced that the World Championships (25m) 2022 in Kazan (RUS) will be held from 17-22 December 2022 at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan, Russia.

Hosts of the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 and the recent FINA Swimming World Cup 2021, Kazan will welcome over 1,200 athletes from more than 180 countries around the world to compete over six action-packed days of competition.

“We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Kazan for the FINA World Championships (25m) 2022 in Kazan (RUS). This city loves aquatics sports. The facilities are world class and provide the ultimate environment for the athletes to perform at the very highest level,” said FINA President Captain Husain Al-Musallam in a press release.

Russia was banned from hosting international sporting events for two years as a part of a ruling regarding doping, and the date the two years expires is Dec. 16, one day before these world championships begin.

The FINA Development Centre is in Kazan and  provides the opportunity for FINA National Federations to have access to high-performance training facilities, thus ensuring greater equality of opportunity for swimmers.
