NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Tori Culotta of Willoughby, Ohio.

She will join Gretchen Lueking, Mary CodevillaRenee Gillilan and Grace Brenneman as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Notre Dame! I want to thank all of my coaches, friends, family, and teammates for their endless support throughout this journey. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing team and university. GO IRISH☘️!!”

Culotta, who does her club swimming with Lake Erie Silver Dolphins, most recently won the 800m free at Elkhart Sectionals after earning silver in the 500 free at Lake Erie Seniors. She also won the mile and took third in the 500 free at the Spire 18&U Winter Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:50.93
  • 500 free – 4:51.02
  • 1000 free – 9:58.93
  • 1650 free – 16:33.11

Currently a junior at Hawken High School, Culotta is a six-time individual Ohio State DII Championship finalist. She won her third-straight 500 free title in 2021 while also adding a ninth-place finish in the 200 free.

The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also placed first and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Culotta will be a big asset to the Fighting Irish’s distance group following the graduations of Samantha Eyolfson and Madeline LaPorte. She would’ve placed 11th in the mile at the 2021 ACC Championships where Notre Dame finished fifth overall in the team standings.
