Fighting Illini Collects Two Verbal Commitments from Suvana Baskar, Logan Kuehne

NEW COMMITS: The University of Illinois has added to their class of 2025 recruiting after receiving a pair of verbal commitments from Bangalore, India native Suvana Baskar and Logan Kuehne of Omaha, Neb.

Both talented swimmers will arrive in Champaign in the fall of 2021 along with Sydney Stoll and Jane Umhofer.

SUVANA BASKAR

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign! I’d like to thank my family, teachers, coaches and friends for always being there for me. I cant wait to see what the future holds and be a part of such a great team! Go Illini!!”

Primarily a backstroker, Baskar trains year-round with Dolphin Aquatics – India and has represented the Indian Swimming Federation internationally. She earned two best times at the Glenmark Senior National Championships in September 2019 and finaled in four events at the Junior National Aquatic Championships last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 50m back – 30.32
  • 100m back – 1:06.18
  • 200m back – 2:22.33

LOGAN KUEHNE

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois! I would like to thank my parents, family, friends, and coaches for helping me get to this point! Go Illini!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.60
  • 100 free – 52.22

A talented sprint freestyler, Kuehne does her club swimming with Swim Omaha and competed at Rochester Futures in 2018. Also competing for Westside High School, Kuehne is a six-time Nebraska State Championship finalist. She won the 100 free and was the runner-up in the 50 free as a junior while taking fifth and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
