Fighting Illini Collect Two Verbal Commitments for 2021-22 Season from Sydney Stoll, Jane Umhofer

NEW COMMITS: The University of Illinois has officially begun their class of 2025 recruiting after receiving a pair of verbal commitments from Hartland, Wis. native Sydney Stoll and Jane Umhofer of Bethesda, Md.

Both talented swimmers will arrive in Champaign in the fall of 2021.

SYDNEY STOLL

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swim career at the University of Illinois! A big thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for all their support along the way! #FightingIllini”

A versatile swimmer, Stoll does her club swimming with Elmbrook Swim Club and is a Junior National qualifier. She raced six events at NCSAs in March 2019 and notched six lifetime bests at Minneapolis Sectionals last long course season. Stoll also earned bronze in the 400m free at the Wisconsin LCM Championships last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 51.92
  • 200 free – 1:49.96
  • 500 free – 4:54.85
  • 100 back – 57.57
  • 200 back – 2:04.48
  • 200 IM – 2:06.00

A rising senior at Arrowhead High School, Stoll is a six-time Wisconsin Division I State Championship finalist. She won the 500 free and collected bronze in the 200 free during her junior campaign while taking fourth in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 IM as a sophomore.

JANE UMHOFER

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m super excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois. I would like to thank all my friends, family, coaches and parents who helped me get to this point. Go Illini!! ??”

Primarily a breaststroker, Umhofer is a U.S. Open qualifier who trains year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club and raced both the 100m and 200m breast at the Toyota U.S. Open in December. Last summer, she finished fourth in the 100m breast at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to take 10th in the 200m breast at NCSAs.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.52
  • 200 breast – 2:19.10
  • 200 IM – 2:05.77

A rising senior at Walter Johnson High School, Umhofer is a six-time Maryland State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 breast as a junior while taking fourth and fifth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
