NEW COMMIT: Fairport Area Swim Team’s (FAST) Serafina Viola has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Fairfield University. The Penfield High School senior will be joining the Stags next fall.

What drew Viola to Fairfield was their new business school, the beautiful campus, the coaching staff and the teammates there. She plans to study marketing.

Competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Stags are a program on the rise.  The two-time defending Fairfield University women’s team has seen one of the largest improvements in the MAAC, moving up from sixth back in 2017 to first place in both 2018 and 2019.

Viola looks to make an immediate impact with her versatility, excelling in the sprint and middle distance freestyle and backstroke events. Her career bests put her in multiple MAAC A-final scoring positions, with her 50 and 100 free times challenging for individual titles.

Her career bests include:
  • 50 Free (23.47)
  • 100 Free (51.22)
  • 200 Free (1:55.02)
  • 500 Free (5:06.88)
  • 100 Back (57.92)
  • 200 Back (2:04.40)

Viola is a USA Swimming Winter Junior National and Futures qualifier. In addition, she is a perennial A-finalist at the ISCA Junior National Cup. She does her high school swimming for Penfield High, in Rochester, NY, where she is a six year varsity letter winner, a six time All-Greater Rochester Team member and a team captain.
