NEW COMMIT: Tufts University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from New York, N.Y. native Esme Blackstock.

Primarily a butterflyer and IMer, Blackstock swims year-round with 92nd Street Y Flying Dolphins and is a senior at Birch Wathen Lenox. She most recently recorded a best time in the 200m IM this past summer at the TYR Summer Senior Championships. Last winter, she finished 10th in the 400 IM at the MIT Invitational before going on to earn five best times and five top-12 finishes at the Northeast Showcase.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Tufts University! Thanks to my coaches and everyone who helped me get here and for believing I could do it! Can’t wait for the next 4 years! Go ‘Bos!!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 58.51
  • 200 fly – 2:08.65
  • 200 IM – 2:12.68
  • 400 IM – 4:32.34

When she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Blackstock will add her talents to a training group that’ll include Amy SochaSasha FongKatherine Sweetser, and Abby Claus. Tufts is coming off a stellar 2018-19 season where they finished second at NESCAC Championships before going on to place 16th at NCAA DIIIs.
