Emory University Scores Verbal Commitments from Anderson Holcomb, Davis Shelton

NEW COMMITS: Emory University has received a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Loganville, Ga. native Anderson Holcomb and Davis Shelton of Tallahassee, Fla.

Emory is no stranger to success, as they have produced 30 individual NCAA DIII national champions, 14 relay national champions, and 119 individual All-Americans in program history.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Emory University! I want to thank my parents, coaches, and all of my teammates for helping me be the swimmer I am today and for their support through the years. I also want to give a huge thanks to Coach Jon for helping me throughout this process. I am so excited for the next 4 years! GO EAGLES!!!!!”

Holcomb trains year-round with Spartans Aquatic Club and most recently earned four best times at an intrasquad meet in August after finaling in four events at Plantation Sectionals. Last summer, he recorded five top-15 finishes at the Georgia Open before going on to notch 100% personal bests at Georgia LCM Seniors.

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 27.59
  • 100 breast – 58.57
  • 200 breast – 2:07.51
  • 200 IM – 1:56.64

Also competing for Loganville High School, Holcomb is a six-time Georgia 1-5A State Championship finalist. He finished fifth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM as a junior while taking 11th and 10th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am very excited and proud to announce my verbal commitment to Emory University in the good old ATL, Georgia !! I am especially thankful for my family, teammates, coaches old and new, friends past and present, and everyone who supported and challenged me over the many many years. One of the things that I was actively looking for from day one of my college search was a balance of great academics and superb athletics and Emory has checked those boxes and much more. I cannot wait to see what Fall ‘21 has in store and until then: ? #goEagles #Emory2025 ? !!!”

Shelton does his club swimming with Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club and finished sixth in the 1000 free and eighth in the mile at the Florida Spring Championships in March. He placed fifth in the 1500m free and seventh in the 800m free at Florida LCM Seniors last summer and took 10th and 15th in those events at Cary Futures.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:49.13
  • 500 free – 4:37.94
  • 1000 free – 9:26.61
  • 1650 free – 15:55.94

Currently a senior at Leon High School, Shelton placed eighth in the 500 free during his junior campaign at the Florida 3A State Championships. He took third in that event as well as fifth in the 200 free at the FHSAA 3A District 2 meet the week prior a well.
