CHICAGO, Illinois, October 18. UIC senior diver Sarah Economides and senior sprint-freestyler Blake Booher were named Horizon League Diver of the Week and Swimmer of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Economides took home league recognition this week with two wins on the boards against Eastern Illinois. The senior won the one-meter event with a score of 235.70 and grabbed a three-meter victory after posting a tally of 230.60.
Booher earned the honor after a stellar season debut against Eastern Illinois this past Saturday. The two-time defending Horizon League 50-yard freestyle champion continued to dominate in his signature event, winning the race in an impressive campaign-opening 20.6 while swimming a 50 free relay split of 19.9 twice.
Economides and the diving corps will be in action this weekend at the UIC Diving Invitational this Sunday at the UIC Natatorium beginning at 10:00 a.m. The entire UIC swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Saturday, October 28th at Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.
