NEW COMMIT: East Carolina University has earned their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from in-state standout Reece Alexander of Pfafftown, N.C.

Alexander, who owns the Winter Juniors cut in the 100 fly, does her club swimming with Northwest North Carolina YMCA Riptyde and most recently won the 100 fly at the 27th Arena Capital Classic last month. She finaled in the 50m fly this past summer at YMCA LCM Nationals and raced both fly events at YMCA SCY Nationals last April. A current junior at Ronald Reagan High School, Alexander finished 13th in the 100 fly at the North Carolina 4A State Championships during her sophomore season after placing sixth in that event as a freshman.

She told Swimming World:

“SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at East Carolina University for the class of 2025!! Thank you to my teammates, coaches, friends, and family for all of the love throughout this process!! I can’t wait to be a pirate!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.19
  • 200 fly – 2:04.92
  • 200 IM – 2:09.44
  • 400 IM – 4:35.31
  • 200 free – 1:52.62

When she suits up for the Pirates as a member of the class of 2025, Alexander will add her talents to a training group led by Lise-Lotte Bentin, Shannon Stott, and Mary DuPree. She also would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships.
