NEW COMMIT: Phoeniz, Az. freestyler Maddie Corder has announced her verbal commitment to Dixie State University and will make the move to Utah next fall.

Corder swims year-round with Phoenix Swim Club and capped off her long course season at the Arizona LCM Senior Open with a 12th-place finish in the 400m IM after recording a trio of best times at Mt. Hood Sectionals. A freestyler with versatility across a range of distances as well as a strong 200 back, she placed third in the 1000 free at the Arizona SCY Senior Open in March and finaled in a pair of events at Four Corner Sectionals. Also competing for Sandra Day O’Connor High School, Corder competed at the Arizona State Championships as a junior where she placed eighth in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 free. Recently during her senior season, she placed seventh in the 200 free in a personal best time.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swim careers at Dixie State University! Coach Tamber and the girls made me feel at home the moment I stepped off the airplane. They are building something special at DSU and I want to be a part of it. Go, Trailblazers!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 54.28
  • 200 free – 1:54.75
  • 500 free – 5:09.22
  • 1000 free – 10:30.20
  • 1650 free – 17:49.77
  • 100 back – 59.85
  • 200 back – 2:05.53

When she suits up for the Trailblazers as a member of the class of 2023, Corder will add her talents to a freestyle group that includes Kate Pack and Kelsea Wright and a backstroke group led by Rebecka Anderson. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 back as well as the C-final of the 200 free, 500 free and 200 IM at the 2018 PCSC Championships.
