On the fourth night of Olympic swimming semifinals and finals Michael Phelps stole the show. The Greatest of All Time walked away with his 20th and 21st Olympic gold medals.

In the 200 butterfly Phelps snuck out a win by only .04 seconds. The 800 freestyle relay team of Conor DwyerTownley HaasRyan Lochte, and Phelps dominated the field, winning by nearly two and a half seconds.

Katie Ledecky also made a statement on her way to gold in the 200 freestyle. The 19 year old’s joy and shock afterwards took on a different form than what usually follows her distance dominance.

Katinka Hosszu earned her third Olympic gold medal of the week in the 200 IM. Great Britain’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor was only three tenths behind for silver.

Nathan Adrian stormed to the top of the 100 freestyle rankings with a 47.83 after sitting 16th after prelims. He was followed by Australia’s Kyle Chalmers and Cameron McEvoy.

Madeline Groves of Australia posted a time a half second faster than her competition in the 200 butterfly semifinals. Ippel Watanabe of Japan clocked an Olympic record in semifinals of the men’s 200 breaststroke.
