NEW COMMIT: Howell, Mich. native and high school junior Kaylee Williams has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky and will arrive in Lexington as a member of the class of 2024.

Primarily a distance freestyler, Williams swims year-round with Club Wolverine and owns the Winter Juniors cut in the 200 free and 1000 free as well as the U.S. Open standard in the 500 free and mile. She placed fourth in the mile, seventh in the 500 free and 20th in the 200 free at Juniors East last month and capped off her summer season with a sixth-place showing in the 400m free at NCSAs.

She told Swimming World:

“After visting the University of Kentucky, I immediately fell in love with the team, coaching staff and campus. I verbally committed because I believe I will be challenged both academically, as well as in the pool and I am very excited for the future. Go Cats!!”

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:48.16
  • 500 free – 4:46.49
  • 1000 free – 10:01.06
  • 1650 free – 16:32.21

When she suits up for the Wildcats at the start of the 2020-21 season, Williams will add her talents to a distance group that will have lost Geena Freriks and Meredith Whisenhunt to graduation. Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go, she would’ve scored in the C-final of the 500 free and would’ve placed in the top-16 in the mile at the 2018 SEC Championships.

If you have a commitment to share, please send a photo and quote via email to hs@swimmingworld.com.
