NEW COMMIT: Eastern Michigan University has received a verbal commitment from Morgan Booth who will join the Eagles in the fall of 2019. Primarily a distance swimmer, she gets faster as the distance gets longer.

A native of Fishers, Ind., Booth does her club swimming with Fishers Area Swimming Tigers and concluded her long course season with a best time in the 800m free at NCSAs after a strong showing at the Indiana Senior LCM Championships. She posted three top-8 finishes at the Indiana Senior SCY meet where she notched a trio of lifetime bests.

Also representing Fishers High School, Booth is a three-time IHSAA State Championships finalist. She finished ninth in the 500 free during her junior season after earning the bronze in the event a week prior at the State Sectional Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“I committed to Eastern Michigan because I was highly impressed by the school and team. I intend to major in Exercise Science and maybe go onto occupational therapy in the future, and EMU introduced such great program that I know will lead me on a good path. The team gave off such a fun, loving atmosphere and welcomed me so generously, making me feel right at home. The head coach, Peter Linn, is so wise about the sport and I know will lead me in the right direction and the assistant coach, Tracy Martin, is motivational and really fills the role of a mom away from home. I absolutely loved every part of it and cannot wait to continue my next four years of studying and swimming as an eagle!!”

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:52.48
  • 500 free – 4:58.11
  • 1000 free – 10:17.70
  • 1650 free – 17:03.34

Booth will add valuable distance depth when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season and will join a training group that includes Kaitie Scanlan and Alyssa Shugarman. Under head coach Peter Linn, the Eagles were the 2018 Mid-American Conference runner-ups.
