Denver Picks Up Commitment from Breaststroker Alex Blom of Lakeside Swim Team

NEW COMMIT: Louisville, Ky. native Alex Blom has declared his intention to continue his academic and swimming career at the University of Denver as a member of the class of 2023.

Blom swims year-round with Lakeside Swim Team and owns the Summer Juniors cut in the 200 breast. He most recently competed at the Kentucky SCY Championships where he recorded a lifetime bests after finishing seventh in the 200 breast at the Southern Premier Invite. He recorded 100% lifetime bests at Juniors East in December en route to placing 16th in the 200 breast and competed in the 200m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer.

Also competing for Louisville Collegiate High School, Blom is a four-time Kentucky State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American raced to eighth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM as a senior after placing ninth and 15th, respectively, in those events during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

His best times include:

100 breast – 56.55
200 breast – 2:01.00
200 IM – 1:53.61
400 IM – 4:04.94

When he arrives on campus in the fall of 2019, Blom will add valuable breaststroke and IM depth to Denver’s lineup. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 400 IM and the B-final of both breaststroke events at the 2019 Summit League Championships where the Pios earned their sixth-straight conference crown.
