Robert Placak, event founder, will celebrate The 16th Annual RCP Tiburon Mile, a 1 nautical mile swim from Angel Island to downtown Tiburon on Sunday, September 11, 2016. This open water swim will feature Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists, arriving directly from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, as well as World Champions in what is considered the most competitive open water swim in the world right here in our backyard. Over 15 countries will be represented this year.
These athletes will swim along with the local swimmers (ages 9 years and up) from around the Bay Area and throughout California, including teams from North Bay Aquatics, Orinda Aquatics and Cal Berkley.
This event is a benefit for Pulmonary Hypertension Association and Special Olympics.
