Danika Huizinga will join a quickly growing NC State class of 2021. The Canadian swims for Ajax Swimming in Ontario and is primarily a sprint butterflyer and backstroker.
She told Swimming World,
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim for NC State for my University career! I am thrilled to be able to swim under coach Braden and his amazing coaching staff, while being part of a world class and on the rise team! I cannot wait to be a member of the Wolfpack! Go Pack!”
In the 100 butterfly she has a long course lifetime best of 1:00.72 swum at Canadian Olympic Trials in April. That converts to a 53.85 in short course yards.
Her short course meters 100 backstroke best is a 58.32. That could turn into a 52.39 in yards.
The Wolfpack women finished third at the 2016 ACC Championships. With those converted times, Huizinga could have been a B finalist in the 100 butterfly and an A finalist in the 100 backstroke.
North Carolina locals Kate Moore and Julia Poole have also given verbal commits to the Wolfpack.
