Danielle Prekop Pledges Verbal Commitment to Lehigh
NEW COMMIT: Jersey City, N.J. native Danielle Prekop has declared her intention to swim for Lehigh University as a member of the class of 2023.
Prekop swims year-round with Scarlet Aquatics where she has achieved a pair of Junior National standards. She capped off her long course season as a three-time champion at the NJ LCM Junior Olympics after a strong showing at Jenks Speedo Sectionals. Prekop, who is a senior at Saint Dominic Academy, also finaled in a trio of events at Buffalo Speedo Sectionals in March and recorded a best time at Juniors East in December.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Lehigh University! I knew it was right for me after I met Coach Herb and Coach Bugby, but after meeting the team I knew it was the only school for me. Everyone was so welcoming and the great atmosphere is contagious. I can’t wait to be a Mountain Hawk!”
Her best times include:
- 200 breast – 2:19.79
- 200 IM – 2:06.06
- 400 IM – 4:24.72
- 500 free – 4:58.58
- 1000 free – 10:12.10
Prekop’s versatility will be extremely valuable for the Mountain Hawks when she suits up for the 2019-20 season. She would’ve been their top performer in the 200 breast and scored in the B-final at the 2018 Patriot League Championships while her fastest 400 IM time would’ve placed in the A-final.
