Dagny Knutson Strikes Again, Sets 100 Free National High School Record

MANDAN, North Dakota, November 15. A day after setting a national high school record in the 200-yard free and a national public school standard in the 500 free, Minor junior Dagny Knutson was at it again at the North Dakota High School State Championships.

Complete results have yet to be posted, but sources from the meet report that Knutson posted a time of 48.33 as a leadoff of the 400 freestyle relay. That effort broke Kara Lynn Joyce's overall and public school record of 48.59 set while swimming for Ann Arbor Pioneer in 2002. The independent school record of 48.90 set by Christina Swindle of Gulliver Prep in 2002 remains on the books.

While splits for the relays have yet to be posted, results are available for Knutson's 200 and 500 freestyle events. Knutson set national high school standards yesterday in prelims, but fell short of her standards with times of 1:43.00 and 4:40.26 to win finals.

Media reports out of the area confirm the 48.33 set by Knutson.
