NEW COMMIT: A native of Charlotte, N.C., Jason Lee has verbally declared his intention to swim for the University of Connecticut as a member of the class of 2023.

Lee does his club swimming with Mecklenburg Swim Association and most recently competed at Cary Futures where he recorded a lifetime best in the 200m breast. He was a five-time NC LCM Senior Championship finalist and finished third in the 200 free at the yards version of the meet in February. Lee also made a trio of finals appearances at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals in March.

Lee also swims for Ardrey Kell High School and competed at the 2018 NCHSAA 4A State Championships. He finished ninth in the 100 fly as a junior at State and was the runner-up in the event at the 4A West Region Championships a week prior.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Connecticut! Thanks to all the coaches, swimmers, and my parents for helping me throghout this process. Excited to represent the next four years as a husky!”

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 50.71
  • 200 fly – 1:51.27
  • 100 free – 47.42
  • 200 free – 1:41.95
  • 100 breast – 58.95
  • 200 breast – 2:07.25

Lee’s versatility will bode well for the Huskies when he arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. His fastest 200 fly time would’ve ranked fourth on their lineup last season and scored in the B-final of the 2018 American Conference Championships.
