Colorado School of Mines Scoops Up Set of Verbal Commitments from Ava Burger, Connie Lee

NEW COMMITS: The Colorado School of Mines has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Solana Beach, Calif. native Ava Burger and Connie Lee of Tucson, Az.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic journey at Colorado School of Mines!! I am beyond thankful for everyone who has helped me get here and so psyched to continue my journey as an Oredigger!! Go Orediggers! ??”

Burger does her club swimming with Team Elite Aquatics and most recently raced the 100/200 breast at Carlsbad Sectionals after placing fifth and seventh, respectively, in those events at the San Diego Imperial Winter Age Group Championships. In summer 2019, she earned bronze in the 200m breast and took fourth in the 100m breast at the Junior Olympics.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 31.12
  • 100 breast – 1:06.38
  • 200 breast – 2:25.74

Also competing for Torrey Pines High School, Burger finished sixth in the 100 breast at the CIF San Diego Section 1 Championships during her freshman season.

CONNIE LEE

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Colorado School of Mines!! I’d like to thank all my coaches, teammates, friends, and family who helped support and push me to achieve this goal!! Go Orediggers!!”

Lee trains year-round with Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics and finished 17th in the 200 IM and 19th in the 200 breast at the Arizona Senior Open in February. She registered four top-3 finishes at the Winter Lights meet in December before going on to take eighth in the 200m breast at the SAC Winter Invite.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:05.97
  • 200 breast – 2:24.60
  • 200 IM – 2:07.89

Last summer, she finished fifth in the 200m IM at the Arizona LCM Senior Open Championships en route to earning a trio of lifetime bests.
