Coach Chris Givens Dies on Christmas Eve

BEAVERTON, Oregon. December 27. CHRIS Givens of the Tualatin Hills Swim Club a well known and popular coach died on Saturday a the St. Vincent Hospital from an aortic aneurism.

Givens was admitted Friday night with chest pains. Doctors discovered a tear in the tissue surrounding his aorta. It was inoperable. He fell into a coma and passed away on Saturday at about 6:00 pm, surrounded by his family, wife Celeste and two daughters, Belle and Kyana, Celeste's parents and his two brothers Randy and Tim.

Givens had coached in Canada for many years first with Paul Bergen at the Etobicoke Swim Club and then the went on to coach at the Chena swim club in Vancouver and the Edmonton Keyano's Swim Club in Edmonton.

He returned to the US about 2 years ago to coach at Tualatin Hills Swim Club.

It is our understanding that the THSC Board will be setting up a trust account to assist Chris's family with immediate and future medical and other miscellaneous expenses. More information on how you can make a donation will be available on the website ASAP.
