NEW COMMIT: Murraysville, Penn. native Abbie Ramey has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Cleveland State beginning in the fall of 2019.

Ramey does her club swimming with Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics and most recently competed at the NCSA Summer Championships after recording three lifetime bests at the TPIT Memorial Swim Meet in July. Also swimming for Franklin Regional Senior High School, she is a two-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship qualifier. As a junior, she placed fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breast at the WPIAL 3A Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to swim and study next year at Cleveland State University! I want to thank my coaches, friends and especially my family for giving me unconditional support throughout my career. I’m looking forward to being a Viking next year! GO VIKES!!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.92
  • 100 free – 53.48
  • 200 free – 1:57.55
  • 100 breast – 1:06.67
  • 200 IM – 2:07.03

Ramey’s versatility will be extremely valuable when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. Her best 200 IM time would’ve scored in the B-final of the 2018 Horizon League Championships and she’ll have two years of overlap with three-time conference finalist Alana Cartwright.
