Claudia Thamm Verbally Commits to Auburn Tigers

NEW COMMIT: Hatfield, Penn. native Claudia Thamm has given her verbal commitment to the Auburn Tigers as a member of the class of 2023.

Thamm, who is a three-time Winter Juniors qualifier, swims year-round for North Penn Aquatic Club under head coach Jeff Faikish. She most recently competed at the Middle Atlantic Senior LCM Championships in July where she made six finals appearances. She recorded a pair of lifetime bests at the Middle Atlantic Senior SCY Championships and finaled in five events after a strong showing at Juniors East last winter.

A current senior at North Penn Senior High School, Thamm is a six-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. She was the 200 IM runner-up and placed fourth in the 100 fly as a junior and took second in the 200 IM as a freshman as well. Thamm has also earned NISCA All-American honors twice in her career.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn university! I chose Auburn because the dedication and perseverance of the coaches and swimmers are something I cannot even begin to describe. I know the excellence of the university, and their academics will prepare me for whatever future holds! I cannot wait for the four years!! And WAR EAGLE!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 50.70
  • 100 fly – 55.22
  • 200 IM – 2:00.87
  • 100 breast – 1:04.87
  • 50 free – 24.05

Thamm’s versatility will be useful when she suits up for the Tigers at the start of the 2019-20 season. She currently sits just outside of scoring range at the 2018 SEC Championships where Auburn finished fifth in the team standings under head coach Gary Taylor.
