CIF San Joaquin Section High School Championships

LODI, California, May 19. THE CIF San Joaquin Section High School Championships took place Saturday at Tokay High School. Diving events were held Saturday, May 7 at Johansen High School in Modesto. Davis won the meet overall with 538.5 points, while Granite Bay took second (460.5) and St. Francis third (381.0).

Girls Results
Tokay's Mary Griffith doubled with wins in the 200 free (1:48.48) and 100 fly (54.67) to establish herself as the top swimmer of the meet. Granite Bay's Sophie Weber grabbed the win in the 200 IM (2:01.15), while Vista Del Lago's Mikayla Winkler dominated the 500 free for the win (4:52.11). El Camino's Molly Kearney won one meter diving with 499.80 points.

St. Francis and Davis combined for the remainder of the wins at the meet on their way to the top two places in the team standings. St. Francis' Alex Rieger won the 50 free (23.89), while teammate Sydney Johansen took the 100 back (55.13) and Carissa Metcalf the 100 breast (1:05.12). Their 200 medley relay team took the win in 1:45.50, while their 200 free relay team won in 1:37.54. Meanwhile, Davis' Marisa La Freniere won the 100 free (52.34) and led her teammates to victory in the 400 free relay (3:28.56).

St. Francis took the overall girls' win with 381.5 points, while Davis scored 282.0 for second place. Rio Americano grabbed third with 198.0 points.

Boys Results
Davis' Wade Allen and Sheldon's Sonny Fierro each doubled with two freestyle wins. Allen took the 50 (20.57) and 100 free (45.37), and teammate Cameron Franke won the 100 breast (57.17). Fierro, meanwhile, won the 200 (1:40.38) and 500 free (4:29.12). Vacaville took the 200 medley relay (1:35.73), while Jesuit grabbed first in the 200 free relay (1:26.80).

Roseville's Adam Jorgenson won the 100 back (50.30), and Del Oro's Brian Westlake earned first in the 200 IM (1:51.89). On their way to the team title, Granite Bay's Andrew Murch won the 100 back (50.64), and his team took the 400 free relay (3:07.57). Jesuit's Jacob Crayne won one meter diving with 558.05 points.

Granite Bay edged Jesuit for the team title, 269.5 points to 263.0. Davis rounded out a tight top-three with 256.5.
