Chris Kopac of Nation’s Capital Swim Club Sends Verbal to Bucknell University

NEW COMMIT: Bucknell University has received a new verbal commitment for their growing Class of 2025 from Futures qualifier Chris Kopac of Ashburn, Va.

He will join Will Hedges of Summit, N.J. in Lewisburg at the start of the 2021-22 season.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Bucknell University! Big thanks to my family, coaches and teammates who have gotten me to this point. Go Bison!!”

Kopac trains year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and earned four best times at Potomac Valley Seniors at March after taking sixth in the 1000 free at December’s NCAP Invite. In summer 2019, he had a strong showing at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors where he finished eighth in the 800m free and 11th in the 400m free.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:44.05
  • 500 free – 4:35.20
  • 1000 free – 9:33.85
  • 100 breast – 58.91
  • 200 IM – 1:54.19
  • 400 IM – 4:07.44

Also competing for Riverside High School, Kopac is a five-time Virginia State Championship finalist. He placed fifth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 500 free as a junior at the 5A meet while taking ninth and sixth, respectively, in those events at the 4A meet during his sophomore season.

Under head coach Dan Schinnerer, the Bison finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Patriot League Championships.
