Cassandra and Dr. Jeff Picked for USA Diving International Squad

BLOOMINGTON, IN, February 2. INDIANA head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber and 2004 Olympian Cassandra Cardinell were invited to join the USA Diving International Team on Feb. 1, report Hoosier sources.

Both Hoosiers will participate in the 2005 China Open April 4-6, while Cardinell will compete at the 2005 USA/FINA Grand Prix May 12-15.

"I am very pleased that USA Diving has identified Cassie as someone with Olympic medal potential," Huber said. "It gives her an opportunity to prepare to go to another Olympics. I think she has a good chance to bring home a medal. USA Diving also is still looking at a couple other student-athletes on our team for inclusion in the program."

At the China Open, Cardinell will perform in both the individual and synchronized tower events, while Huber will be one of the team coaches at the event. Cardinell also will battle the country's best divers on the platform at the USA/FINA Grand Prix

Next up, the Cream and Crimson play host to the 2005 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 16-19 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
