Canadian National Junior Teamer Elizabeth Moore Verbals to Wisconsin Badgers

NEW COMMIT: The University of Wisconsin – Madison has gained a new verbal commitment for the upcoming fall of 2019 from Sylvan Lake, Alberta’s Elizabeth Moore.

Primarily a breaststroker, Moore swims year-round with Red Deer Catalina Swim Club under head coach Lucien Zucchi. At the Canadian Swimming Trials in July, she raced to eighth in the 200m breast and ninth in the 100m breast to secure her spot on Team Canada’s Junior Pan Pac roster. She then went on to place 12th in the 200m breast and 13th in the 100m breast at the Junior Pan Pac Championships. Moore was also a seven-time finalist at the Western Canadian Championships last April, earning a trio of silver medals in the 100m/200m breast as well as the 200m fly.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Wisconsin! I can’t wait to be apart of an amazing team, as well an excellent academic school. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point in my athletic career.”

In LCM, her best times include:

50m breast – 33.60
100m breast – 1:10.77
200m breast – 2:30.32
200m IM – 2:20.42

In SCY, those times convert to:

50 breast – 29.46
100 breast – 1:02.27
200 breast – 2:13.48
200 IM – 2:03.14

When she suits up for the Badgers as a member of the class of 2023, Moore will add her talents to a breaststroke group that’ll include Kelsi Artim, Avalon Schultz and Jenna Silvestri. Her best time (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 breast at the 2018 Big Ten Championships where Wisconsin finished fifth overall in the team standings.
