The University of Tennessee’s distance freestyle program will add Canadian national champion Tess Cieplucha next fall, as the rising star made a verbal commitment to head to the United States next year.

Cieplucha won the 1500 freestyle at the Canadian nationals last April with a 16:47.84. At the Canadian summer nationals in August, she earned a trip to the junior world championships by placing second in the 800 free with an 8:50.00.

Her best finish at the world juniors was 15th in the 1500 freestyle. She also competed in the 800 free for Canada.

Cieplucha also has talent in the 400 IM with a long course best of 4:46.54. A converted time could put her in the hunt for scoring points in that event at the Southeastern Conference championships.
