Camille Lacourt Tops Competition in Prelims of 50 Back at 2015 FINA World Championships

France’s Camille Lacourt posted the top time in prelims for the men’s 50-meter back with a finishing time of 24.56. This time matches his 2015 best 0f 24.56 which he posted at the French Championships earlier this year.

USA’s Matt Grevers grabbed the second-place seed with a time of 24.68 moving him up to third in the world rankings for 2015.

Australian teammates Ben Treffers and Mitchell Larkin snagged the third- and fourth-place seeds from separate heats. Trekkers turned in a 24.74 in heat six, while Larkin posted a 24.77 in heat five.

David Plummer of the USA clocked a 24.79 in heat six finishing in front of Great Britain’s Liam Tancock’s 24.91 from the same heat.

Jeremy Stravius (24.95) of France and Pavel Sankovich (24.97) claimed seventh and eighth respectively.

Germany’s Carl Schwarz (25.12), Israel’s Jonatan Kopelev (25.14), Italy’s Simone Sabbioni (25.21), POland’s Tomasz Polewka (25.25), Russia’s Grigory Tarasevich (25.27), Russia’s Vladimir Morozov (25.27) and Norway’s Lavrans Solli (25.28) will join the top eight in semi-finals later in the day.

Miguel Ortiz-Canavate and Guilherme Guido will swim off for the sixteenth spot.
