NEW COMMIT: Boston College has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Ryan Lenahan of Moraga, Calif.

Lenahan does his club swimming with Orinda Aquatics and most recently competed in the 100m back at Junior Nationals this past summer after earning bronze in the 800m free at Far Westerns. Last winter, he raced two time trials at Juniors East before going on to earn 100% best times at Carlsbad Sectionals.

Also competing for Campolindo High School, Lenahan is a three-time CIF North Coast Section Championship finalist. He placed sixth in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 free as a junior after taking 14th in the former during his sophomore season. He also raced the 500 free at the CIF State meet last season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to swim at Boston College for the class of 2024!! The combination of the school, the team, and the city is what made BC the obvious choice. I want to thank my coaches, parents, teammates, and friends for helping me get to this point as well and Coach Mike and Coach Eric for making the process so easy. I can’t wait for the next four years! Go Eagles!!”

His best times include (SCY/LCM):

  • 100 back – 53.03/1:00.65
  • 200 back – 1:58.51/2:11.61
  • 500 free – 4:35.48/4:07.68

When he arrives in Chestnut Hill as a member of the class of 2024, Lenahan will add his talents to a training group led by Matt ClarkSamuel Roche, and Zachary Szmania. He’ll provide valuable depth to Boston College’s backstroke and mid-distance freestyle training groups.
