Cal Swimming Tops Rival Stanford in Pac-12 Showdown

The Cal men’s swimming and diving team defeated rival Stanford 167.5-130.5 on Friday afternoon.

Cal’s Daniel Carr, Reece Whitley, Bryce Mefford and Bjorn Seeliger won the 200 medley relay in 1:24.38 to start off the meet.

The Golden Bears then went 1-2 in the 1,000 freestyle as Zach Yeadon won in 8:49.88, followed by Sean Grieshop (8:56.92).

Cal’s Trenton Julian won the 200 freestyle in 1:33.53, holding off teammate Destin Lasco and Stanford’s Luke Maurer, who tied for second at 1:33.99.

Carr (45.61) and Mefford (45.63) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.

Whitley won the 100 breaststroke in 52.89, holding off Stanford’s Daniel Roy (52.94).

Hoffer (19.07) went 1-2-3 in the 50 free with Nate Biondi (19.84) and Seeliger (19.94).

Mefford (1:44.07), Carr (1:44.94) and Whitley (1:45.34) went 1-2-3 in the 200 IM.

Lasco won the 200 backstroke (1:40.35). Julian won the 500 freestyle (4:14.08).

CaSeeliger, Hoffer, Julian and Lasco won the 400 freestyle relay (2:51.11).

Stanford went 1-2 in the 200 butterfly as Alex Liang won in 1:42.65 ahead of Preston Forst (1:42.83). Jonny Affeld won the 100 free (43.05) holding off Seeliger (43.15).

Roy won the 200 breaststroke (1:52.20). Ethan Hu won the 100 butterfly (45.93).

The Cardinal went 1-2-3 in 1-meter diving, led by Conor Casey (373.58). Noah Vigran won 3-meter (431.18) in a 1-2-3 finish.
