Cal Golden Bears Get Another Big 2025 Verbal From Annie Jia

NEW COMMIT: The Golden Bears of Cal have struck gold again, landing another top target in the Class of 2025 in Annie Jia of Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Cal already has a loaded recruiting class in Teagan O’Dell, Claire Weinstein and Alex Shackell.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am incredibly excited and grateful to be able to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at the University of California, Berkeley! I would like to thank my friends, family, and coaches for making my dream possible. I’d also like to thank Coach Dave, Coach David, and Coach Kim for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Bears!”

Jia trains year-round with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and most recently competed at Juniors East where she placed fourth in the 100 free and 100 fly as well as seventh in the 200 fly. She earned bronze in the 100m fly this past summer at Junior Nationals after winning the 200m IM at Middle Atlantic Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.45
  • 100 free – 48.77
  • 100 fly – 51.09
  • 200 fly – 1:57.44
  • 200 IM – 1:58.60

Currently a junior at Hatboro Horsham High School, Jia owns the state record in the 100 fly. She is the two-time defending Pennsylvania 3A state champion in the 100 fly, also winning the 200 IM as a sophomore.

Jia’s best time in the 100 fly would have earned her an invite to the 2023 NCAA Championships.
