Butterflyer Lauren Fanucchi Chooses Vanderbilt for 2027

Butterflyer Lauren Fanucchi Chooses Vanderbilt for 2027

NEW COMMIT: Vanderbilt University has recorded a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Lauren Fanucchi of Saratoga, Calif. Fanucchi is a Junior National qualifier who excels in fly and IM.

She will join Ariel Kong in Nashville as a member of the Commodores’ Class of 2031.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so EXCITED to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Vanderbilt University!! I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support throughout this journey, and my coaches and teammates for helping me get to where I am today. Finally, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Jeremy for this incredible opportunity! ANCHOR DOWN!!”

Fanucchi, who does her club swimming with Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, most recently competed at the Super League Long Course Championships where she earned five best times and placed fourth in the 400m IM. She won the 200 fly at Far Westerns in April and raced four events at Juniors West in December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 56.04
  • 200 fly – 1:59.71
  • 200 IM – 2:06.20
  • 400 IM – 4:29.36
  • 500 free – 4:57.49

A rising senior at Saratoga High School, Fanucchi finished sixth in the 100 fly and 11th in the 500 free at the 2026 CIF Central Coast Section Championships. She took ninth and fifth, respectively, in those events at that meet in 2025. She competed at the CIF State Championships in 2025 and 2026, too.

Fanucchi’s a great add to Vanderbilt’s roster, as her best time in the 200 fly would’ve ranked first on their lineup last season while her top 200 IM time would’ve been third and her fastest 100 fly time would’ve been fourth.
